Women’s health and fitness day

Women’s Health & Fitness Day is the nation’s largest annual health promotion event for women of all ages. On September 20th, 2020 we focus attention on the importance of regular physical activity and health awareness for women.

It is important for women to focus on their physical health, particularly as they reach their 40’s and 50’s. Often, at that time in many women's lives, they are so focused on the health of those around them. But in addition to managing the health of their children and partner, it’s important for women to remember to take care of themselves as well.

To help the women in our community refocus on their own health, we’re sharing a few health reminders to keep you on the path towards total wellness.

Drink more water

Staying hydrated is the key to avoiding many unwanted ailments caused by dehydration including headaches, digestive issues, dry skin, low energy, and constipation. Many experts recommend drinking a glass of water before each meal to avoid over eating and suggest drinking 9 cups throughout per day for women.

Walking have great benefits

Something as simple as a daily brisk walk can have numerous benefits to your health. Regular walks can help you maintain a healthy weight, prevent and manage heart disease, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes. It can also strengthen your bones and muscles as well as improve your overall balance and coordination. Grab a friend to keep you company and start walking anywhere you’d like, even as close as your nearest sidewalk!

Manage your mental health

Mental health is just as important as physical health! If you’re struggling with anxiety, stress, depression, or just need someone to talk to then seek out professional help. Your physician and medical staff are always available when you need to talk to someone to give you professional advice.

Keep up with appointments

Doctors, specialists, and other health appointments should be made and attended regularly. Going to an annual check-up with your primary care and bi-annual Physician appointments can give you peace of mind when it comes to your health.

The most important thing to remember is that your health truly matters, and it’s important to keep it a top priority in your life. If you have any other questions or want more suggestions for improving your overall health, please speak with your medical provider.
