Chief Medical Officer for Community Medical Group, Dr. Sama has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Previously, Dr. Sama served as Regional Medical Director in Miami-Dade County for Humana - Care Delivery Organization, Humana's largest Medicare Advantage market in the nation. Dr. Sama provided medical direction and oversight for 22 wholly-owned medical centers with over 75 direct reports.
Over the last 20 years, Mr. Sama has held leadership and directorship positions at various healthcare organizations. Before joining Humana in Miami-Dade, Dr. Sama served as Medical Director for Humana's Transcend Population Health Management in the South Florida and Treasure Coast regions of Florida. Dr. Sama has held numerous other positions within the industry including that of AVP and System Director of Emergency Medicine at HealthQuest, Chairman and Medical Director - Department of Emergency Medicine at Putnam Hospital Center, Medical Director at Putnam County Emergency Medical Services and as Chief Medical Officer and Co-Founder of SwiftMD, a telemedicine company.
Dr. Sama holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and a Bachelor of Science degree (cum laude) in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Miami. He completed residencies in Anesthesiology (Miami, FL and Manhattan, NY), Emergency Medicine (Manhasset, NY) and was Chief Resident in Emergency Medicine (Manhasset, NY).
Dr. Sama is licensed in the state of Florida and has participated as both Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator in 9 research studies, is a member and Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and holds NIH Stroke Scale, American Board of Emergency Medicine Diplomate and National Board of Medical Examiners Diplomate certifications.
